Abstract

The Schiff base complex of 4-methoxy benzaldehyde Bis (thiosemicarbazone) zinc chloride (BLZC) was synthesized from analytical reagent grade of thiosemicarbazide 4-methoxy benzaldehyde and zinc chloride in 2:2:1 molar ratio. BLZC crystal was grown by slow evaporation method at a room temperature. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with space group Aba2. The Fourier Transform Infrared and Raman analysis was used to identify the various functional groups present in the title compound. High Resolution X-ray Diffractometry (HRXRD) was employed to evaluate the perfection of the grown crystal. The emission of green light for the title compound has been from fluorescence studies. The grown crystals are found to be suitable for device fabrication in frequency conversion applications.
